The Decision ...

Image
I wrote this song about the blended families that are so common these days and the motivations that keep them together. Have you ever made a commitment? Ever decided to become someone? Sometimes opportunities arrive and it's time to make a choice. This is about a friend - and me - and so many others. It's also about the results of broken families and how one person can make all the difference. Have a listen.

Walk My Way

Image
This song represents how I live my life and my fundamental motivations. Possibly the song closest to my heart Walk My Way was written in less than an hour, after thinking on what my legacy could be. When I was younger I had a respiratory arrest and developed a hole in my lung (pneumothorax) at the same time. I was taken by ambulance to a larger hospital, as I was in the country. They had to stop six times on the way to restart me (old technology).  I had a near-death experience and my whole attitude to life was changed.   I wrote this song as much for myself as for all of you.  Have a listen and if you like it let me know, hit the like button or whatever the platform does. If you don’t like it, let me know.

Trimstone Livestream Open Mic #6

Image
Two performances in two weeks!  How crazy is that?!  Today's was via Zoom hook-up to Trimstone's Livestream Open Mic event, co-hosted by The Casey Beat.  Thanks guys for this opportunity! I've been battling a chest infection and almost pulled out of the performance but fortunately my anti-biotics kicked in overnight.  Even so, I opted to sing quieter offerings - "Song Dreaming", "Breathe, Miss Sunshine", "Walk My Way", "Where We Will Meet Again" and "How Much You Mean to Me".   If you missed the show or would like to hear any songs again,  nearly all those tracks are available on my Spotify account (which currently has 26 singles) - and "Walk My Way" will be there when it releases on 23 March.  My YouTube Artist Channel is another option if you don't do Spotify.  Both can be easily accessed via tabs on the blog's home page.  Cheers!

Once More Unto The Breach

Image
This is a song I wrote about a man, a Polish man, in the second World War. He was a committed fighter pilot in the 303 Squadron, the highest scoring unit in the Battle of Britain. His name was Josef Frantisek. I wasn't going to do this song but when I was in the midst of researching, I went to a market in Brisbane and was just talking to people.  I was talking to a guy, a painter, and said I was doing some research about Poland.  He said he was researching Poland.  I said I was writing a song about the 303 Squadron - and he asked, Frantisek?  It was the most amazing moment. He was goose-bumped all over.  Me, too. There is a detailed article about the Polish pilots who flew in the Battle of Britain, here .  There are a number of photos, including one of Josef Frantisek.

A Dog's Sadness

Image
Yes. I have released another song. A Dog’s Sadness is a song I have thought of for a while now. Dogs are so much more connected and struggle with loss. This song looks at the trauma a dog faces when they lose their owner. It was written for all those dogs that go through loss and find a new person.  This is my dog's favourite song and he really enjoys singing along with me. Have a listen and note the dog howl. That’s me actually, not my dog!
